His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Dalmook Al Maktoum Lends A Helping Hand Towards the Development Of Energy Sector In Angola
From installing an emergency power plant in Ghana to helping develop trade and business relations between Bangladesh and UAE, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Dalmook Al Maktoum has always endeavoured to make the nations self-sufficient. Moreover, the Private Office held by him has been instrumental in offering economical, innovative and clean energy solutions.
To further the development in the fields of transportation, production, distribution of energy and drinking water supply, MOUs have been signed. This was done at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), where the President of the Republic, JoãoLourenço marked his presence. The memoranda of understanding that were signed at the ADSW aimed at building a power production central in Moxico, along with an electrical system to interconnect the country’s eastern region.
In order to facilitate the supply of drinking water via low-coast quality technique, the agreement was inclusive of the construction and implementation of a desalination system.
Besides promoting mining and economic development of Moxico and Lundas, the entire project is said to have been designed to enable easy access to electricity in the region. João Baptista Borges expects the plant to produce at least 350-to-400 megawatts of electricity. The minister also reiterated as a full member of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Angola aims to build 600 megawatts of solar parks with the help of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Giving Angola’s energy sector the right push, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Dalmook Juma Al Maktoum guaranteed an investment of US$200-300 million in energy. This involves investment in the fields of diesel, gas and solar energy in mining areas, etc.
The experience in desalination and HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Dalmook Al Maktoum’s revolutionary approach are commendable to bring Angola on the path of development.
