Sheikh Ahmed Bin Dalmook Juma Al Maktoum Comes Forward To Strengthen the Relationship between Bangladesh and UAE
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin DalmookJuma Al Maktoum is a pioneer in the segments of power, financial development, investment, energy and infrastructural projects across the globe. Being a philanthropist by nature, he has played a pivotal role in the regional development while also paving the way for growth and development of the neighbouring regions and nations.
To strengthen the business relationship between the two countries, UAE’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktouminvited the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina to attend the inauguration ceremony of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2019) held on February 17 in Abu Dhabi.
UAE has always remained active in offering employment to the people of Bangladesh. As a result, the country is the second biggest destination for Bangladeshi workers in terms of employment opportunities. Recently, a deal was signed between the two countries wherein Bangladesh agreed to send workers in 19 different categories. Additionally, the UAE government has opened doors for Bangladeshi doctors and engineers to set foot in the country in order to work. The general mercy scheme that was finalised between August and December last year is to be credited for legalising about 50,000 Bangladeshi citizens working in the UAE.
Aside from signing two MoUs aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries, Prime Minister Hasina also interacted with the Bangladeshi community working in the UAE.
Talking of the MoUs, the first one between Bangladesh Power Development Board and the Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum will focus on the projects related to the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and power plants including any other project that might be of mutual interest. The second MoU will be signed between Bangladesh Investment Development Authority and Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum, the prime aim of which is to set up a special economic zone on 300 acres of land in Matarbari, Bangladesh.
The foreign minister of Bangladesh, AK Abdul Momen considers UAE to be an economic powerhouse and therefore, these initiatives to be great in terms of pushing the overall economic diplomacy of the South Asian country. Additionally, he also confirmed that the Dubai Expo will witness Bangladesh participating in a big way next year.
The two MoUs, once materialized will strengthen the bond between both the nations to a great extent.
